The Al-Rakeezeh Foundation persists in its Economic Empowerment Initiatives in Rural Areas throughout April, intending to alleviate poverty in Iraq and provide livelihood support for vulnerable, low-income individuals, and widows. To date, we have executed over 10 projects, benefiting close to 100 individuals.
These endeavors encompass a range of initiatives, from the provision of utility motorcycles (known as “Stotah”) to livestock assistance. The motorcycles were allocated to unemployed men or those with limited income, aiding them in their endeavors and bolstering their earnings. Similarly, cows were distributed to widows to enable them to sustain a dignified livelihood for themselves and their orphaned children.
Success Story: Um Ahmed, a disabled widow with four orphans, was embraced by the livestock cow ownership project as part of the Economic Empowerment Program, transitioning them from dependence to productivity. Um Ahmed epitomized her journey with resilience, diligence, and unwavering self-belief, despite her health challenges. She was resolute in ensuring the success of the livestock breeding endeavor, producing milk and its by-products, and capitalizing on sales. Furthermore, she supported her children’s education by meeting their daily needs.
